The EU Blue Parks is an initiative under the Mission Ocean and Waters dedicated to science-based solutions for setting and managing marine protected areas in the EU. The EU Blue Parks Community is a platform for EU Member State authorities, practitioners, researchers and other stakeholders to collaborate on marine protection, to protect 30% and strictly protect 10% of EU sea areas by 2030. The aim of the community is to bring together national and regional authorities, projects and initiatives in the EU to identify challenges, share tools and good practices, promote innovative approaches and push forward the progress in marine protection in EU, by: identification and establishment of marine protected areas, increasing the interconnectivity of marine protected areas, improving management, governance and financing of marine protected areas. EU Blue Parks Community consists of national and regional agencies for marine and environmental matters, including Natura 2000 marine and coastal sites, researchers in the field of marine conservation, sea basin organisations, NGOs, international organisations, donors and sustainable investors. Our aim is primarily to: Exchange knowledge and good practices, enhance governance and stakeholder involvement, explore funding opportunities, and improve ongoing management of marine protected areas, Contribute our expertise and learn from others across EU sea basins to enhance marine conservation efforts and address common challenges effectively, Strengthen synergies, bridging gaps, and leveraging the collective knowledge and resources available in established initiatives.
