About the Third Project Call: Key Details
The Interreg Danube Programme is a transnational cooperation initiative designed to support projects in the Danube region, spanning countries from Germany to Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and beyond. The third project call is part of this ongoing effort to foster regional development and strengthen the European Union’s policy goals for cohesion and sustainable growth.
This call aims to fund projects that focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Innovative and Smart Danube Region
Projects promoting innovation, digital transformation, and the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). - Environmental Protection and Climate Change Mitigation
Initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, including water management, resource efficiency, and climate change adaptation. - Sustainable Growth and Competitiveness
Projects that contribute to the region’s economic development, particularly through green growth, sustainable industry, and job creation. - Better Connected Danube Region
Projects that enhance transport, logistics, and digital connectivity across the Danube region, promoting greater integration. - Good Governance and Cross-border Cooperation
Efforts aimed at improving governance structures and fostering cooperation between public authorities across borders.
Who Can Apply?
This call is open to a wide range of applicants, including:
- Public Authorities: Local, regional, and national governments
- Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs): Companies focused on innovation and sustainability
- Research Institutions and Universities: Organizations conducting research in key areas of development
- Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs): Civil society groups dedicated to environmental, social, or economic change
- Other Public and Private Entities: Including associations, chambers of commerce, and other relevant stakeholders
A key requirement for applicants is cross-border cooperation—projects must involve at least two partners from different Danube region countries.
Funding and Eligibility
The Interreg Danube Programme offers co-financing for projects, with the EU providing up to 80% funding for eligible activities (up to 85% for non-EU countries). The eligible costs may include:
- Personnel and operational costs
- Travel and accommodation for project activities
- Equipment and materials directly linked to the project
- Subcontracting for specific tasks or services
- Other project-related expenses
